Saying Addio to Italy

Saying Addio to Italy

Hello everyone~

It’s Hump Day again!  Hope you all had a great Holiday weekend with your family and friends.

Tomorrow, alas we must say Addio and Grazie to this wonderful and exciting vacation/anniversary trip.  It was totally spectacular! Everywhere we went, we were treated graciously.  There were no two days alike.

It was a very athletic vacation.  On this trip, we concentrated on getting to know the landscape.  We were constantly hiking and walking.  The vistas and wildflowers we encountered along the way;  spectacular!

Each town we visited offered a unique experience.  We went from modern conveniences in Sorrento, Anacapri and Naples to a rather primitive island known as Panarea.  It is so far behind modern times, it only began to use electricity in 1982.   The inhabitants didn’t want street lights-they enjoy having the stars and the moon as their guide.  It was very romantic!  Our host gave us a flashlight so we could see our way around to get to a restaurant for dinner.

Today, I want to say a great big THANK YOU to Christopher!

He planned a  truly great vacation and even allowed me some time to write to you.  Because of him, I was able to have many wonderful experiences that I thought I would only ever experience   through reading books.

Tonight, he is giving me a grand finale, something I am sooo looking forward to – a night at the Opera!  We are going to see La Boheme at the Teatro Di San Carlo; constructed in 1737, it is the oldest opera house in Italy.  It is even older than Teatro alla Scala in Milan, crafted circa 1778. Because it’s a special occasion in a beautiful opera house, we are dressing up.  I am so totally excited about this.  What a way to end this trip!

To express my great thanks to Christopher, I want to share with  some pictures of us taken during this magical trip.

So, as  one journey ends, the journey home begins.   It’s time to pack.   It’s time to charge my Kindle and prepare for the long flight ahead.

Enjoy the rest of your day.  I look forward to speaking with you on Friday, jet lag permitting.

Simone
