Artistic Design
Disclaimer here, I love art and I have taken a couple of courses in drawing and painting and will freely admit to not being very good at it.
My teachers tell me I over think the process and it has something to do with the fact that I am a “right brain-er.” However, art is about individual expression and it really does not matter if it is good or not, so long as you enjoy it.
When it comes to home decor, interior design and art are perfect partners, as the colors of the artwork and the room need to compliment each other.
With that being said, my husband, Christopher and I are avid art museum enthusiasts.
We visit galleries quite often as we can. Each visit provides me a new opportunity for design inspiration. I often think, I can do that, why not ty it? It’s easy!
Sometimes I am successful, sometimes I am not, but always art gives me something entirely unexpected. That is the beauty of art, it is never what it seems to be and its unique to each person.
I love abstract and impressionism art style.
Charcoal, pencil and ink are some of my favorite types of art mediums to use.
On a personal note, I have a friend who does the most amazing work using acrylics and oils and we have incorporated many of her pieces into our home. She is of Argentinean decent and this is truly depicted in her artwork which always uses warm colors.
Here is a sample of her work that we have in our home!
“It’s art if can’t be explained. It’s fashion if no one asks for an explanation. It’s design if it doesn’t need explanation.” — Wouter Stokkel
